Hotel VISON is the main hotel of the commercial complex VISON in Mie Prefecture. As an accommodation facility at VISON that centers on herbal medicine, we aimed to offer a stay experience where guests can feel nature and a landscape that shapes the memory of their hometown for local people. For example, floors along the mountain slope have terraces the size of the guestrooms. Young children, the elderly, and people with disabilities alike can enjoy mini glamping and other outdoor activities. The softscape using medicinal plants and bushes not only serves shielding purposes, but also is a mechanism for operating the hotel as one scenic element and grow it like a terraced field. We reviewed the civil engineering, construction, and content so that the uniqueness of the land can be translated into the uniqueness of the facility.
