Le Passage et La Place is a spatial experience type video installation. The construction features a spatial arrangement of the operable projection screen on which the image distribution was changed according to chronological order.<\/p>\n\n\n

Le passage and La place are two elements that comprise the skeleton of Paris. They mean “street” and “plaza,” respectively, and evoke a pairwise relationship like movement and stagnation, line and plane, or male (Le) and female (La). The Spica Museum, which is the venue of exhibition, features a simple space partitioned into an external walkway and an internal gallery with a glass wall, which we associated a bigeminal relationship.

The concept is to pluralize, fragment, and dynamicize the boundary between these two spaces. We call this multi-contouring. The vacillating ambiguity in itself is an independent change, a scenery where chances of change flicker.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Using a large glass wall as a partition between the gallery and the external walkway, we installed a screen to project pictures on.\u00a0
The screen is divided into a barcode-like pattern and consists of three different kinds of materials. The stainless steel mirror reflects the pictures, the white tape forms the images, and the glass passing the pictures. We installed three projectors inside the gallery.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

This screen causes the image projected from the projector to partly be reflected onto the walls inside the gallery, partly pass through the glass and be projected on the wall of the approach outside, and partly form on the glass wall that constitutes the boundary between the two spaces.\u00a0
The video is edited according to the screen materials, contributing to the projection of spatially individual images.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
